Learn About Z Altug

Z Altug, PT, DPT, MS, OCS, CSCS is a board-certified orthopedic clinical specialist, licensed physical therapist, and an author with 30 years of experience in his field. He currently works at a private practice in Los Angeles.

Z Altug

Education

Z graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical therapy and obtained his Master of Science degree in sport and exercise studies, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education from West Virginia University. He also completed a transitional doctorate degree in physical therapy (DPT) from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota, and is a long-standing member of the American Physical Therapy Association, California Physical Therapy Association, and National Strength and Conditioning Association.


Certifications

Z is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist. He is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a certified strength and conditioning specialist and personal trainer. Additionally, he was certified by USA Track & Field as a level 1 coach and by USA Weightlifting as a level 1 sport performance coach. Z also has completed workshops and classes in yoga, Tai Chi, Qigong, the Pilates method, the Feldenkrais Method, and the Alexander Technique to further expand his knowledge of body movement.

Awards

Z received the 2018 Clinician Non-Research Publication Award from the California Physical Therapy Association for his book, Integrative Healing: Developing Wellness in the Mind and Body (Springville, UT: Plain Sight Publishing).

He also received the 2015 Clinician Non-Research Publication Award from the California Physical Therapy Association for the article "Resistance Exercise to Improve Cognitive Function." Strength and Conditioning Journal, 36(6):46-50.
